高橋　さっきの話の続きで言うと、平穏な家庭はいろいろな問題を隠しています。お金とか、セックスとかを見せないようにして、日常生活を楽しく過ごしている。その中の1つが「死」ですね。テレビだと、陰部にモザイクがかかるでしょ。それから、死体と手錠にもかかる。陰部、死体、手錠。客観的に見たらすごく変な組み合わせです。あらゆる場所は映すのに、この国では、その3つは絶対に映らない。

――「ニューヨーク・タイムズ」のウェブサイトには遺体の写真がいくつも掲載されていて、国内でも話題になりました。

高橋　2万人が亡くなったのに、「大災害」という言葉だけで、日本には遺体の写真が1枚もない。死体を1体も見せないっていうのは異常ですよね。この社会の妙な雰囲気は、「ヤバいものは見せない」という社会の構造が原因なのかもしれない。空気なんて見えないのに、それを感じろっていうのはダメでしょう。ものを見ないということが、逆に想像力を失くしてしまうんです。
